AgEagle Aerial Systems, a leading provider of comprehensive flight hardware, sensors, and software for commercial and governmental purposes, has announced that their "eBee X Series" drones, have received the C6 class identification label in line with European Union (EU) regulations.
Starting from January 1, 2024, operators of the C6-labeled eBees will have the ability to execute Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations across Europe in sparsely populated areas, with the aid of airspace observers over a controlled ground domain. The only prerequisite is a declaration submitted to the respective National Aviation Authority, indicating an intent to operate under either the European Standard Scenario-01 or STS-02.
This C6 certification makes the eBee X Series a unique offering in the market, as they are the sole professional drones to possess both the C6 and C2 labels, granting operators in Europe a distinct operational advantage.
Barrett Mooney, CEO of AgEagle, commented on the significance of this achievement, "By adding the C6 marking to our C2-labeled eBee drones, we're enhancing the benefits for our European clientele. This labeling facilitates access to certain operational areas and modes that are off-limits to drones weighing more than 4 kg, sans the need for additional permissions or regulatory exceptions. Presently, the dual C2 and C6 marking is exclusive to eBee drones, emphasizing their reliability for BVLOS operations and flights over populated areas."
To secure the C6 designation, the eBee drones were meticulously tested and evaluated by NavCert GmbH to ensure their alignment with specific EU benchmarks. Marcel Visser, Managing Director of NavCert GmbH, conveyed his congratulations to AgEagle, expressing pride in having overseen the C6 certification process for the eBee X series drones.
Moreover, in June 2022, the eBee X Series marked another significant advancement by becoming the first in the industry to secure a Design Verification Report (DVR) from EASA concerning M2 Ground Risk Mitigation. This pertains to the European "Specific Category" and allows for Operations Over People and BVLOS flights outside the purview of EASA’s standard scenario STS-02. This DVR further assists European drone operators in obtaining necessary approvals from their governing National Aviation Authorities.
The eBee X Series drones, known for their high-performance, are autonomous fixed-wing mapping drones that are portable and safe. Weighing under 2 kg, they are user-friendly and have a flight capability of up to 90 minutes, covering expansive areas with precision.
