AgEagle Aerial Systems, a prominent drone, sensor, and software solution provider, has joined forces with SEALSQ, a leader in semiconductor and cybersecurity technologies. Their collaboration aims to bolster drone surveillance security, particularly for public safety, government, and defense applications.
In September 2023, AgEagle unveiled the eBee VISION, an advanced Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) tailored for Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Integrating SEALSQ's Secure Element, which complies with NIST FIPS140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL5+ standards, the eBee VISION ensures enhanced cybersecurity. This element personalizes each chip with a unique Trusted Identity, fortifying the drone against potential takeovers, encrypting data, protecting embedded software integrity, and offering strong authentication capabilities.
The eBee VISION's sophisticated cybersecurity features are complemented by its operational capabilities, rendering it ideal for public safety and defense missions. Notably, the eBee VISION UAS is part of the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Innovation Unit project. It aims to develop customized command and control software that aligns with the DoD's Robotic and Autonomous System-Air Interoperability Profile within the Blue UAS program's framework.
With the commercial drone market projected to reach approximately $38 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 7.9% from 2022 to 2027, sectors like public safety, security, and defense are increasingly prioritizing privacy and security features in drone technology.
eBee VISION boasts high-resolution video imagery with a 32x zoom and advanced thermal observation capabilities, offering real-time situational awareness. The lightweight, NDAA-compliant fixed-wing drone features a live HD video feed, up to 90 minutes of flight time, and a wireless coverage area of up to 12 miles. Its deployment and control are streamlined for efficiency, requiring just three minutes and a single operator.
Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ, expressed confidence in their ability to assist drone manufacturers in developing cybersecure UAVs that comply with stringent agency standards efficiently. AgEagle's CEO, Barrett Mooney, emphasized the importance of integrating certified secure elements into their latest drone technology, the eBee VISION, to safeguard data for their partners in public safety, government, and defense sectors.
