DJI has expanded its software suite with the launch of DJI Modify, a new intelligent 3D model editing platform. This software is designed to complement DJI’s enterprise drones and DJI Terra, the company's 3D modeling and mapping software. DJI Modify aims to streamline the workflow for professionals in surveying, transportation, and emergency response sectors, including firefighting.
Integration with DJI Terra for a Seamless Workflow
DJI Modify is engineered to work in unison with DJI Terra, offering users a cohesive solution from the initial stages of modeling to the final steps of model editing. The integration allows for a one-click transition from DJI Terra to DJI Modify, where files for model editing are automatically prepared. This system simplifies the process of repairing common defects in 3D models, akin to how Photoshop functions for photo editing. However, at this stage, DJI Modify is limited to processing models created by DJI Terra.
User-Friendly Editing Tools
The interface of DJI Modify is designed for ease of use, featuring intelligent tools that do not require intricate settings. The software supports various file formats like ply, obj, and b3dm, ensuring compatibility with DJI Terra and other third-party applications. An anticipated feature is the ability to share processed models to the cloud for online viewing and sharing, streamlining collaboration and project sharing.
Advanced Editing Capabilities
DJI Modify brings advanced editing functions to the table, including the ability to flatten, edit textures, repair water surfaces, remove floating parts, and fill in holes in the 3D models. These tasks can be performed with one-click repairs or through manual customization. The software also boasts smoother model display technology, allowing users to work on high- and low-quality models within a single interface. Real-time synchronization and previewing of changes are made possible, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the editing process.
Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI, highlighted the importance of DJI Modify in completing DJI’s enterprise solution range. She believes that this new software will revolutionize the editing of live 3D models, providing a significant boost to the workflows of surveyors, transportation operators, and emergency responders.
