Elsight has announced a strategic partnership with the Israeli-based robotics and drone innovator, Robotican, to advance Beyond the Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) communications for military and defense applications.
The collaboration focuses on improving the operational efficiency of Robotican’s counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technology, notably the Goshawk drone, which is designed for fully autonomous interception missions. This initiative comes as military and defense sectors worldwide increasingly incorporate counter-UAS systems into their security protocols to neutralize adversarial drones effectively, aiming to do so without causing collateral damage.
Robotican’s Goshawk stands out for its ability to execute precise interception by capturing enemy drones mid-flight, a technique described as Surgical Discreet C-UAS mitigation. To bolster the Goshawk's capabilities, Elsight will integrate its Halo platform, a cutting-edge system offering robust and secure connectivity via an AI-based, multi-link bonded communication framework that amalgamates LTE, 5G, SatCom, and RF channels.
The Goshawk drone's autonomous functionality, includes in-flight target detection, tracking, and the secure capture of hostile systems. Beyond military use, the drone has been employed by emergency services in Israel, such as police, ambulance, and fire departments, serving as an early responder to assess situations before the arrival of ground teams.
Elsight's Halo ensures uninterrupted connectivity between the Goshawk drone and its control station, even in areas with limited signal coverage. Robotican’s CEO, Hagai Balashi, praised the Halo system for providing the most reliable LTE connection and high-quality data streaming Robotican has experienced, significantly reducing the risk of Command and Control (C2) failure during operations.
Yoav Amitai, CEO of Elsight, expressed pride in partnering with Robotican to safeguard airspace from hostile drones. He highlighted that the collaboration has notably accelerated the 'detect, react, and eliminate' process, enhancing situational awareness and the overall effectiveness of counter-drone operations.
