Emirates Post Group (EPG) and Dronamics have recently entered into an agreement to assess the potential of using cargo drone technology for same-day delivery services in the UAE. This understanding was formalized through a Letter of Intent (LOI) during the inauguration of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) Cluster in Abu Dhabi.
The SAVI Cluster aims to position itself as a leading hub for smart and autonomous vehicle innovations, reaching across air, land, and sea sectors. The cluster's focus is on drawing in key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), startups, researchers, and professionals in the field.
The LOI sets the stage for EPG to examine Dronamics' cargo drone offerings for potential implementation in mid and long-range deliveries. The collaboration's goal is to create an extensive cargo drone delivery network in the UAE and the broader GCC. Upon successful trials, EPG plans to incorporate this drone technology into its existing logistics infrastructure and extend its availability to the broader logistics industry. Furthermore, EPG aims to support Dronamics' cargo drone initiatives in the region through a joint venture.
Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, the Group CEO of Emirates Post Group, mentioned that the collaboration aligns with both organizations' goal of modernizing the logistics sector using the latest drone technologies.
Dronamics, known for its contributions to the cargo drone sector, has conducted successful trials of its drones, showcasing their capabilities across various sectors. The firm's all-encompassing approach includes drone design, manufacturing, operation, and the establishment of dedicated Droneports.
Svilen Rangelov, the CEO and Co-Founder of Dronamics, noted the significance of the partnership with Emirates Post Group for their expansion plans in the Middle East, especially the UAE.
As part of this agreement, EPG will facilitate Dronamics in carrying out Proof-of-Concept (POC) flights in the UAE using at least one of their drone aircraft by 2024. The partnership aims to strengthen EPG's logistics operations in the UAE with the integration of advanced technologies.
