Everdrone is gearing up to take its life-saving drone tech to new heights in the UK. The Swedish startup has joined the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Beyond Visual Line of Sight Sandbox as part of the LifeLine consortium, a key step that could revolutionize how emergency medical supplies are delivered.
The BVLOS Sandbox isn’t just another testing ground—it's a crucial platform where Everdrone and its partners aim to influence the future of UK drone regulations. The LifeLine project, the centerpiece of this initiative, focuses on using drones to quickly deliver critical medical equipment to emergency scenes while streaming live video back to first responders. This approach not only speeds up medical interventions but also enhances the safety and efficiency of rescue operations.
Mats Sällström, CEO of Everdrone, highlighted the importance of this venture: “The LifeLine consortium is excited to join the CAA’s RPAS Integration Sandbox to advance UAS operations and shape future airspace regulations. This project is key to using drones for emergency medical services, delivering medical equipment faster than ever before, and providing live camera feeds to first responders, ultimately saving lives.”
The initiative is backed by a strong lineup of partners, including Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), Altitude Angel, NATS, and London Gatwick Airport. Together, they plan to conduct trials in both rural and urban settings, gathering essential data that could pave the way for the broader integration of BVLOS drone operations into UK airspace.
