Flyability, known for its expertise in confined-space drone technology, has launched the Ouster OS0-128 Rev 7, a new Surveying Payload for the Elios 3 drone, during the InterGEO event in Berlin.
The newly introduced payload promises centimeter-accurate scans, especially in challenging and hard-to-reach areas. This aligns with Flyability's broader objective of ensuring safety by reducing human exposure in potentially dangerous environments. Accompanying the payload, the bundle will offer training, reflective targets, and specialized processing software named FARO Connect.
The enhanced payload showcases a series of improvements over its predecessor, the Ouster OS0-32 Rev 6.2. It boasts of increased precision, extended range, higher point density, and superior photon sensitivity. Notably, it offers volumetric measurements comparable to terrestrial laser scans, accurate distance measurements, and detailed point clouds. These improvements make it especially suitable for symmetrical infrastructure inspection, such as wastewater pipes and sewers.
A significant component of this bundle is the FARO Connect software, a product from FARO Technologies, a leader in 3D measurement. This software contains optimized SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) presets for data from the Elios 3 drone. Moreover, Connect has capabilities to recognize reflective targets as ground control points, filter out noise, and generate consolidated point clouds for clearer visualization. The data can be exported in prevalent industry formats, facilitating easier data transfer and subsequent analysis.
