Gecko Robotics, a trailblazer in AI-enhanced robotics for infrastructure maintenance, announced a substantial extension to its Series C funding, totaling $173 million. This latest financial boost signifies the company's escalating role in supporting the U.S. military's infrastructure modernization efforts.
Joining Gecko's board as part of this funding round are representatives from the US Innovative Technology Fund (USIT) and Founders Fund, two prominent entities in defense technology investment. This move aligns with Gecko's recent contract to expedite the manufacturing process for the U.S. Navy's $132 billion Columbia-class submarine program.
Gecko Robotics CEO, Jake Loosararian, expressed the company's commitment to enhancing military readiness:
"This funding propels our efforts in ensuring the readiness of military assets crucial for national security. Our growing partnerships with the U.S. military, now bolstered by the support of USIT and Founders Fund, are a source of pride for us."
Following its initial Series C announcement, Gecko observed a surge in demand from both U.S. military and allied forces. The company's contract with the U.S. Air Force to modernize strategic nuclear missile silos and ongoing collaboration with the U.S. Navy to streamline maintenance cycles for the surface fleet highlight its growing defense sector presence. Last month's introduction of Cantilever, Gecko's AI-powered software platform used by the Navy and other clients, underscores its commitment to accelerating decision-making in military operations.
Thomas Tull, Chairman of USIT, underscored the significance of Gecko's role: "Gecko is pioneering a new era of military readiness. Their innovative use of robots and AI-powered software enhances our national defense infrastructure's maintenance, building, and innovation."
Trae Stephens, Partner at Founders Fund, emphasized the importance of maintenance in military preparedness: "Gecko Robotics is tackling a critical, often overlooked aspect of national security. Their efforts ensure that our military assets are mission-ready, safeguarding the freedom and security of America and its allies."
The new board members, USIT's Gaetano Crupi, co-founder and former CEO of Cabin Technologies, and Founders Fund's Trae Stephens, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Anduril Industries, bring a wealth of experience and strategic insight to Gecko Robotics.
This funding round and board expansion mark a pivotal moment for Gecko Robotics, placing it at the forefront of developing future technologies vital for maintaining and enhancing America's military capabilities and global responsibilities.
