US drone manufacturer Inspired Flight Technologies has announced its latest product, the IF800 Tomcat. This medium-lift drone is capable of carrying payloads up to 3 kg and has a flight time of over 40 minutes. The California-based company plans to begin shipping the drone to customers before the end of the year.
The IF800 Tomcat is touted as the first NDAA-compliant industrial-grade drone that offers a flight time exceeding 40 minutes while accommodating popular high-resolution cameras and sensors. It is equipped with dual hot-swappable smart batteries, enabling operators to conduct large missions without the need for system resets.
Designed for a variety of applications, including infrastructure inspection, terrain mapping, and LiDAR surveys, the IF800 Tomcat features a 30-degree upward-angle shooting capability for gimbal-mounted cameras. This feature facilitates the inspection of wind turbines, bridges, and critical infrastructure. Additionally, it incorporates an integrated first-person view (FPV) camera that provides real-time visual feedback and precise control during flights.
In terms of portability, the primary frame of the IF800 Tomcat is lightweight, compact, and foldable, allowing for convenient transportation and deployment in different environments. Its carrying case is specifically designed to ensure sufficient space for batteries and payloads during transit.
Inspired Flight Technologies emphasizes the drone's compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) as one of its key features. This compliance ensures that the drone does not rely on critical Chinese or other foreign technologies, as prohibited by the NDAA. Rick Stollmeyer, CEO of Inspired Flight, acknowledges the significance of this aspect and the role the company plays in restoring US capabilities in drone technologies.
The IF800 Tomcat, with its impressive flight time, payload capacity, and adherence to NDAA regulations, offers high performance and versatility for various industrial applications.
