Ottonomy, a startup specializing in contactless deliveries using fully autonomous robots, has secured investment from Aeroporti di Roma Ventures (ADR Ventures), the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Aeroporti di Roma. The investment follows a successful proof of concept established during an accelerator program at Fiumicino airport's Innovation Hub. Ottonomy's autonomous delivery project aligns with ADR's long-term strategy to enhance passenger experience through cutting-edge technology and innovation.
Emanuele Calà, president and CEO of ADR Ventures, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing Ottonomy's team and technology that align with ADR's vision of a more autonomous and passenger-centric airport. The collaboration is expected to open new opportunities in the industry and transform the traveler experience globally.
ADR Ventures, in collaboration with Plug & Play Tech Center, developed the "Runway to the Future" program at ADR's Innovation Hub. The program aims to select international startups for joint development within the airport environment, providing opportunities for proof of concept and potential full-scale implementation.
Ottonomy participated in the "Runway to the Future" acceleration program in September 2022, offering convenient autonomous delivery services to air passengers. During the proof of concept at Fiumicino International Airport, Ottonomy achieved impressive key performance indicators, including more than 150 km traveled by Ottobots within the terminals, zero accidents, over 300 clients using the service, and an average delivery time of three minutes.
Ritukar Vijay, CEO of Ottonomy, expressed gratitude for the continued partnership with ADR Ventures and the Innovation Hub, highlighting ADR's commitment to innovation and customer experience in the airport industry. The partnership and multiyear contract with ADR represent the future of the travel experience for customers worldwide.
ADR Ventures was established as an investment arm to support the growth of startups operating within the Innovation Hub, aiming to finance projects with high innovation potential aligned with the airport's operational and strategic needs. It serves as a platform for youth entrepreneurship, providing support to promising startups and accelerating their business growth and commercialization.
Ottonomy and ADR recently participated in Plug and Play's Travel & Hospitality & Smart Cities Expo Day in Vienna to discuss the launch of ADR Ventures and how innovation and cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the passenger experience. The companies showcased the Ottobot case during the event. Aeroporti di Roma received the Corporate Innovation Award for the second consecutive year for its investment in identifying innovative solutions and supporting the growth of startups within its Innovation Hub, contributing to the transformation of the aviation industry.
