Quantum Systems, a Munich-based manufacturer of dual-use reconnaissance drones, has announced a significant contract with the Romanian Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply its advanced Vector unmanned aerial systems. The contract, valued at approximately 18.4 million EUR, was finalized on May 14, 2024, and will span 36 months.
This contract enhances the capabilities of the Romanian Armed Forces with state-of-the-art UAS technology. Romtehnica S.A., the purchasing authority, has selected Quantum Systems to provide these advanced systems for various regional operations.
The decision to award the contract to Quantum Systems was based heavily on the quality of their Vector UAS. Key factors included superior range, flight autonomy, sensor quality, robust warranty terms, and competitive pricing.
The Vector drone, known for its vertical take-off and landing capabilities, provides the Romanian MoD with a tactical reconnaissance system that meets stringent requirements for range, flight time, and sensor capability. It enables precise reconnaissance with a flight duration of up to three hours. The integrated ‘Raptor’ combi-sensor, featuring both an optical and an infrared camera, allows for day and night operations in all climates and challenging environmental conditions.
