Quantum-Systems Inc., a leading provider of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aerial intelligence solutions, has been selected for a second round of funding under the United States Department of Defense (DoD) pilot program, Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT).
The announcement follows the designation of 11 DoD program offices by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD(R&E)) to receive FY23 APFIT funding. Quantum-Systems Inc. has been awarded $20 million by the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
"We are grateful that the DoD has chosen to allocate FY23 APFIT funds to expedite the procurement of our Vector fixed-wing, eVTOL unmanned aircraft system. This will enable us to enhance our manufacturing capabilities and deploy our mission-critical technology to a greater number of warfighters at an accelerated pace," stated David Sharpin, CEO of Quantum-Systems Inc.
APFIT, established through the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, is a competitive and merit-based program designed to facilitate the rapid transition and deployment of technologies by partnering with companies in the defense sector.
