Rotor Technologies, the builder of the world’s largest spray drone, has announced a strategic partnership with AG-NAV Inc., a respected leader in precision navigation and flow control technology. This collaboration promises to revolutionize automated aerial applications by integrating AG-NAV’s advanced navigation systems into Rotor’s Sprayhawk unmanned helicopter.
The partnership was officially launched with a demonstration of an integrated automated aerial application system, which enables users to pilot Rotor’s Sprayhawk agricultural UAV. The Sprayhawk boasts an impressive 110-gallon capacity and uses AG-NAV’s cutting-edge Guia Platinum navigation system.
As part of this collaboration, AG-NAV will exclusively provide agricultural navigation solutions for Rotor’s 2025 Model Year Sprayhawk. These drones will come equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and flow control technology, including variable rate spray control systems directly on the UAV and a Guia Platinum navigation terminal for the ground control station.
Charlotte Keys, Product Manager at Rotor, highlighted the benefits of this integration, stating, "The integration of AG-NAV systems into the Sprayhawk brings precision agriculture to our aerial application customers. With access to AG-NAV’s industry-leading navigation and mission management systems, Sprayhawk operators will be able to seamlessly manage their jobs and workflows, perform in-flight spray controls just like in their manned aircraft, and optimize efficiency with precision flow control."
One key feature of this partnership is the access it provides Sprayhawk operators to AG-NAV’s advanced mission planning software, AgMission. This software allows sprayers to design safe and efficient spray patterns tailored to various field types, customize operations for specific needs, and analyze data from past spraying missions for improved future performance. The collaboration marks a significant leap forward in supporting aerial applicators with their precision agriculture requirements.
Landon Ramirez of AG-NAV emphasized the mission of both companies to focus on innovation and pilot safety, stating, "At AG-NAV our mission is to always innovate as well as focus on pilot safety. So when we heard what Rotor were doing, we were really excited to work with them to further improve pilot safety as well as revolutionize the aerial application industry."
Rotor Technologies and AG-NAV are making strides to support this mission by making the 2025 Model Year Sprayhawk available for pre-order to customers in the United States and Brazil. Interested parties can place orders for delivery in the latter half of 2025, with special introductory pricing available until December 15, 2024.
This partnership underscores a growing trend in the agricultural industry towards precision and automation. As drone technology continues to evolve, collaborations like that of Rotor Technologies and AG-NAV represent not only technological advancement but also a commitment to enhancing safety and efficiency in the field of aerial agriculture.
