Skyfront, a leader in high-endurance hybrid drones, has launched its next-generation drone magnetometer solution, Skyfront MagniPhy.
The Skyfront MagniPhy features a new enclosure and universal attachment mechanism for drones, enhancing data quality, efficiency, and safety. It is compatible with third-party magnetometer sensors and various drones, including DJI, ArduPilot, and PX4-based models. This advancement was developed in collaboration with Geometrics, known for the MagArrow II UAS-enabled magnetometer.
Existing users of the MagArrow and other drone magnetometers can now retrofit their devices with the Skyfront MagniPhy, either through a fast turnaround service from Skyfront or a self-service kit. New customers interested in subterranean object detection can also benefit from this solution.
The Skyfront MagniPhy offers improved data quality and enhanced ability to locate subterranean objects by maintaining a constant magnetometer heading during flight and reducing magnetic noise through its aerodynamic design. This design also allows for operations in high winds, reducing instrument motion and noise. The attachment mechanism folds from 16.4 feet to 1.4 feet, fitting into carry-on luggage, connects to the drone quickly, and has a battery life of approximately 8 hours with swappable batteries. Additionally, it ensures safer operations by minimizing the risk of snagging trees when flying low to the canopy.
Skyfront also manufactures the highest endurance hybrid gas-electric multicopter drones, with flight times exceeding 5 hours. Their systems are used in over 30 countries for locating abandoned oil and gas wellheads in the U.S. and detecting landmines and unexploded ordnance in Ukraine.
This solution offers a safer and more efficient alternative to helicopters and traditional battery-powered drones, which have limited flight times and higher costs. Skyfront’s technology significantly reduces field time for magnetic surveying from weeks to days.
“Geometrics has been empowering geoscientists everywhere to explore and quantify the world since 1969, and we are excited by the market opportunity unlocked through our collaboration with Skyfront,” said Dr. Mark Prouty, President of Geometrics.
“Juniper Unmanned helps enterprises unleash the power of remote sensing and analytics, and we are excited to use Skyfront’s next-generation drone magnetometer and our geophysical interpretation techniques to produce accurate maps of buried infrastructure,” said Jeff Cozart, Founder and CEO of Juniper Unmanned.
“We are excited to advance the $30B+ defense and geophysical services markets with Skyfront MagniPhy, our next-generation drone magnetometer, which has been integrated into Skyfront’s Perimeter line of drones, the highest endurance hybrid multicopter drones in the world,” said Troy Mestler, CEO of Skyfront.
