Skygauge Robotics, a robotics company specializing in industrial maintenance, has announce the commercial launch of its Skygauge Inspection Drone. After successfully completing a $1 million contract with Transport Canada and deploying its drones in various regions, including Canada, the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, the company is now prepared for widespread deployment.
Skygauge Robotics aims to revolutionize the use of drones with its innovative Skygauge Inspection Drone, which has been purpose-built for performing physical work, with its initial focus being on industrial ultrasonic inspections.
Similar to how doctors use ultrasound to assess the health of individuals, inspectors employ industrial ultrasound to evaluate the condition of structures. Industries such as energy, refining, and shipping require regular ultrasound inspections to ensure the integrity of their critical infrastructure. The Skygauge Inspection Drone offers significant advantages by eliminating the need for cranes and scaffolding during these inspections, resulting in potential cost savings of millions for organizations.
"Inspectors are completing inspections 10 times faster and reducing costs by 50-90 percent while eliminating risk to workers by keeping them safe on the ground," stated Nikita Iliushkin, Chief Commercial Officer of Skygauge Robotics.
To perform these inspections, Skygauge Robotics developed a novel drone design that allows the drone to make direct contact with the infrastructure. Unlike most drones that primarily observe and capture images, the Skygauge Inspection Drone interacts with the physical world, facilitating efficient and accurate inspections.
In collaboration with Transport Canada, Skygauge Robotics conducted extensive testing of its drone in various scenarios, including arctic operations. These partnerships and early adopter programs have been instrumental in refining the capabilities of the system, paving the way for mass production.
With its unique design and ability to conduct industrial ultrasonic inspections, the Skygauge Inspection Drone has the potential to transform the way inspections are performed in various industries, delivering increased efficiency, cost savings, and improved safety for workers.
