The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team is elevating its operational efficiency with the introduction of the Skydio X10, an AI-enabled drone that promises to transform how the team supports emergency responders during crises. According to Chris Sanders, a senior manager at Verizon Frontline, the Skydio X10's adoption marks a significant upgrade in their drone capabilities, offering autonomous flight options and streamlined video streaming to partnering agencies.
Replacing older models in the fleet, the Skydio X10 is distinguished by its ability to perform a variety of crucial tasks, from search and rescue operations to thermal mapping and enhancing situational awareness in emergency scenarios. Notably, the drone boasts rapid activation under 40 seconds, a top flight speed of 45 miles per hour, and a 40-minute flight duration, positioning it as a pivotal tool for first responders.
The drone's payload features a comprehensive sensor package, including telephoto, narrow, and radiometric thermal cameras, catering to operations in low light conditions. A standout feature of the X10 is its NightSense technology, enabling the drone to autonomously navigate and avoid obstacles in complete darkness, ensuring that crisis response efforts can proceed around the clock.
Callan Carpenter, Chief Revenue Officer at Skydio, expressed pride in supporting the critical work of the Verizon Frontline team, highlighting the X10's design as the most advanced autonomous drone available.
"Crisis situations are extreme environments and Skydio is proud to be a part of the technology foundation that enables them to stay connected to answer the call when lives are on the line,” said Carpenter.
Cory Davis, vice president of Verizon Frontline, underscored the commitment to equipping their teams with leading-edge technology to support the 37,000 public safety agencies nationwide that rely on Verizon Frontline's services. The inclusion of the Skydio X10 in their drone fleet is anticipated to bolster the team's capabilities significantly, furthering their mission to deliver exceptional network support and technology solutions to first responders.
The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team offers essential emergency assistance to government agencies and emergency responders, providing services such as portable cell sites, Wi-Fi hotspots, and charging stations to facilitate communication and enhance network performance during crisis situations, all at no cost to the agencies served.
