XTEND, the developer of XOS, a cutting-edge human-guided autonomous operating system, has announced a multi-layered partnership with ModalAI, the leading manufacturer of autonomous drone and robotics technology. This collaboration will integrate XTEND's XOS operating system with ModalAI's VOXL® 2 Autonomous AI Autopilot, enabling users to maximize their capabilities in completing advanced robotics missions.
XTEND's Operating System (XOS) is a scalable and flexible platform that empowers users to deploy drones and robots with ease. By leveraging XOS's growing application ecosystem, users can enable seamless collaboration between humans and machines in various scenarios. XOS provides an open app store for third-party developers, offering a wide range of applications for different mission types, including drone control, data extraction, payload management, and industrial infrastructure inspection.
Rubi Liani, XTEND's co-founder and CTO, highlights the benefits of XOS:
"XOS allows anyone to remotely connect and interact with drones and robotics devices, even without prior knowledge or training. It offers precise, intuitive, and immersive control, maximizing the potential of drones and robotic systems while minimizing risks to human safety."
The partnership with ModalAI enhances the capabilities of both companies' hardware offerings. ModalAI's VOXL® 2 Autonomous AI Autopilot, powered by the Qualcomm QRB5165 processor, condenses autonomous capabilities into a lightweight package. With its integrated flight hardware and software, VOXL® 2 accelerates UAV development time and enables developers to create their own customized UAVs. The collaboration will benefit XTEND's range of fully NDAA compliant, human-guided autonomous drones, including the XTENDER, Wolverine, and Griffon models.
Chad Sweet, CEO and co-founder of ModalAI, expresses excitement about XTEND's selection of VOXL® 2:
"We are thrilled that XTEND has chosen VOXL® 2 to power their fleet of autonomous drones. VOXL® 2 was designed to expedite UAV development, and we are excited to witness the impact of XTEND's XOS and drone fleet in modernizing mission-critical applications."
Both XTEND and ModalAI are part of the Defense Innovation Unit's Blue UAS Framework, an initiative aimed at advancing commercial technology to provide trusted capabilities to UAV drone users.
